August 1

Matt had the day off yesterday, so we drove north a bit to a u-pick blueberry farm. I was pretty skeptical about how enjoyable it would be, but both Dora and Sebastian had a good time. It was a beautiful day, Dora actually liked picking blueberries (she kept asking, “is this a big one Dada?”) and Sebastian would have eaten himself sick if we’d have let him. Afterwards we drove to Plattsburgh, went to Walmart (what everyone American family dreams of doing on a Sunday, right?) and then had a picnic. Everybody fell asleep on the drive home (except me, the driver!) and then we pretty much just hung out at home the rest of the day. I made a blueberry pie, but it didn’t turn out: even though the top was beautifully browned, the bottom crust was still raw, yuck. After the kids went to bed, our wonderful housemate Jay listened for the kids, and Matt and walked to a nice French bistro on the water. It was very good to have some grown up time, and to catch up a bit.

Unfortunately, I’m not feeling like writing much tonight, but hopefully more tomorrow: Matt is letting me borrow the computer indefinitely, as he is very focused on preparing for his concert. So I’m outta here. ..
